Hansi Flick is expected to be officially appointed as Barcelona’s new manager next week, following confirmation of Xavi Hernandez’s departure at the end of the season. He’s already having his say in the transfer department, and he wants to be re-united with a former pupil from his time at Bayern Munich.

Barcelona have been linked with Joshua Kimmich over the last several months, and the case for him arriving in Catalonia will only be boosted with Flick taking over as head coach. As per Sport, Deco and Flick are in agreement that the Bayern Munich midfielder should be their priority target to reinforce the pivot position this summer.

Barcelona believe that Flick’s arrival will massively help their chances of signing Kimmich, and they are hopeful of doing a deal with Bayern for less than €40m.

It’s worth noting that Kimmich’s Bayern contract expires next summer, so a cut-price deal is entirely possible if a renewal agreement is not reached in the coming weeks and months. At this stage, it does look entirely possible for Barcelona to get their man during the transfer window.
