Hansi Flick, the Barcelona manager, shared a notable opinion on Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United and England forward made an immediate impact against Daegu FC on Monday.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona this summer, and the former Man United forward has already been competing for a spot in Hansi Flick’s starting XI.
The 27-year-old, who came up through United’s academy, is on a season-long loan and made his Barcelona debut in July during a 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe.
After making his first appearance in that pre-season match against Vissel Kobe from Japan’s J1 League, Rashford continued to get minutes under his belt with his new team.
Flick brought him on again for the second half of a 7-3 win over K League 1 side FC Seoul last month.
Rashford notched his first assist for Barcelona during that match against FC Seoul, and he continued to build on that momentum with another strong showing recently.
Barcelona dominated Daegu FC 5-0 in their second pre-season match in South Korea.
Rashford came on for Lewandowski at half-time and scored in the 65th minute to cap off the win.
Following the British forward’s strong display, Hansi Flick praised his versatility, hinting at a potential future role.
“I’m happy with the facilities in Seoul and the opponents. They were good tests for us,” he said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“Rashford can play as a No 9 [like Lewandowski], and as a No 11 [like Raphinha]. We put him [Rashford] in the centre today because Ferran Torres was injured.”
Rashford’s return to Old Trafford this summer was brief. The United fan, who came through the club’s academy, had just finished a loan spell with Aston Villa.
The Barcelona signing had been training away from the first team at Carrington after being sidelined by manager Ruben Amorim.
However, Rashford managed to find a way out and secured a dream move to Camp Nou this summer.
The Englishman now must perform well in Spain to secure a permanent transfer in 2026. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, his contract has a €30m buy option clause.
