Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Barcelona are now “in the running” to sign Dayot Upamecano. Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has pushed the club to pursue Upamecano, whose contract expires in June, like Konaté.

Although Flick didn’t coach Upamecano at Bayern Munich, he considers the 26-year-old an “elite” talent after facing him in the Bundesliga while Upamecano starred for RB Leipzig.

Barcelona are open to offers for Ronald Araujo and hope to bring in Upamecano as his replacement. Amid ongoing financial challenges, signing Upamecano would allow Barcelona to bolster their defense without paying a transfer fee.

Sport Bild’s Christian Falk reports that Liverpool has emerged as the latest club interested in Upamecano. The Reds are reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for his France teammate Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract runs out next summer.

Bayern Munich are pushing to extend Upamecano’s deal, but as time goes on and more clubs join the chase, any potential renewal could become increasingly costly for the German side.

At the same time, Falk reports that PSG is also monitoring Upamecano. The French club sees him as a potential option and could move to sign him if he becomes a free agent next summer.
