Harry Amass set for Norwich loan and one Manchester United contract detail will please fans

Manchester United’s young left-back Harry Amass is expected to join Norwich City on loan for the second half of the season, and there’s a clause in his deal that should go down well with supporters.

Amass spent the first half of the campaign at Sheffield Wednesday, where he quickly became a standout performer in Darren Moore’s side.

The 18-year-old was a hit with Wednesday fans, who were disappointed when his loan spell ended in January. But he’ll now get another opportunity to develop in the Championship, this time with Norwich City.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has explained that part of Ineos’ transfer strategy involves moving on academy products, as these sales count as pure profit within the PSR framework.

While there’s financial logic to that, the idea doesn’t sit well with everyone, especially since United have long been known for developing and promoting young talent from within their ranks.

Amass is widely viewed as one of the club’s top prospects, so it’s reassuring for fans that transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed there is no buy clause attached to his move.

Romano reported on X that Amass’ switch to Norwich is complete, noting it’s a straightforward six-month loan with the defender set to return to Carrington afterwards.

Amass impressed during United’s pre-season tour but didn’t manage to lock down a regular spot in the starting XI.

He’s made seven senior appearances so far, and with how well he’s been playing in the Championship this season, there’s every chance he’ll be pushing for more minutes when he returns.

He’ll be heading back to Manchester in the summer, hoping to earn another shot during pre-season. And with Ineos still searching for a permanent manager, there could be a real opportunity for him to make an impression.
