Harry Kane denies skipping training, vows to report to Tottenham Saturday

Hours after Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola suggested his club will not meet the high valuation placed on wantaway Tottenham Hotspur striker and England captain Harry Kane, Kane released a statement refuting a report from Monday that he's been skipping training in an attempt to force a transfer to the reigning Premier League champions.

"It's almost 10 years since I made my Spurs debut. For every one of those years, you - the fans - have shown me total support and love," Kane wrote in a message shared by ESPN

"That's why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.

"While I won't go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned.

"I wouldn't do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club. This has always been the case as it is today."

This is Kane's first public statement since reports surfaced at the start of the week he was facing "a significant fine" for what Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy deemed a breach of contract. New Tottenham coach Nuno Espirito Santo said Wednesday the club and Kane needed to "solve the problems ourselves" before discussing the matter in-depth with the media, and Guardiola made it seem on Friday as if City won't pay the reported price tag of £150 million placed on Kane's services.

"He is a Tottenham player," Guardiola explained. "If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate it is finished. If they want to negotiate, many clubs would like to sign him, we are not an exception. We are very interested in him, of course we’ll try."

Kane, 28, is signed for three more seasons on a £200,000-a-week contract that does not include any known release clause.
