Manchester United’s late season surge has sparked hope around Old Trafford, with results under interim boss Michael Carrick restoring their Champions League hopes.
Carrick’s influence has been felt across the squad, and that was evident in Amad Diallo’s endorsement of the former United midfielder.
Consistency at the back has been hard to come by in recent seasons, but recent weeks have offered a glimpse of stability.
Harry Maguire has been at the centre of that.
He has been it terrific form and as a result a lucrative offer was tabled, but firmly rejected.
According to The Sun, Harry Maguire has snubbed the chance to join Inter Miami, the MLS side co-owned by Manchester United legend David Beckham, despite the offer of a mega-money deal that could have taken him away from European football.
Instead, the 33-year-old has made it clear that his future remains at Old Trafford.
Maguire, who was due to become a free agent this summer, signed a one-year extension contract, with an option to extend for a further 12 months, a decision that emphasises his desire to finish his career at the club.
After enduring a difficult period marked by criticism, Maguire has re-established himself under Carrick, starting all ten games since the interim manager took charge.
That consistency has helped drive the club back into contention for a top-four finish, with United now needing four wins and a draw from their remaining seven games to secure a return to the Champions League.
It also explains why interest in the England international has intensified.
Alongside Inter Miami’s approach, Napoli were also keeping tabs on his situation, while his performance earned him a recall to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel after an 18-month absence.
Maguire has 266 appearances for the club and 65 England caps.
Although Maguire is on an uptrend right now, there are still bumps along the way.
He will miss the upcoming clash against Leeds United after being sent off in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and has also been charged by the FA for improper conduct following an altercation with the fourth official in that match.
But those incidents have not overshadowed the bigger picture.
Turning down a move to Inter Miami is a statement of intent.
