Former Manchester United star turned pundit, Paul Scholes believes Tottenham is now a counter-attacking team and Harry Kane cannot perform in one and that is why he is struggling now.

Kane is yet to score a league goal in this campaign despite emerging as the top scorer in the Premier League last season.

Scholes suggests that the change in management and system is responsible for his current poor run of form.

Son Heung-min has been Tottenham’s main goal threat in this campaign and has left Kane behind him in most of the club’s attacking play.

Scholes says Spurs play on the counter now and Kane is simply not a counter-attacking player.

The Premier League winner said on The Overlap: “They are playing on the counter attack. Harry Kane is not a counter-attack player. He is not quick enough to be that.”

This revelation may give Tottenham one more reason to either sell the striker when they get another chance or to sack Nuno Espirito Santo and bring in a manager who can bring out the best in their most reliable attacker.

For now, Spurs fans will hope that the likes of Son will keep scoring the goals that the team needs.

Kane also struggled for England during the international break and that could suggest that there is more to his poor form than meets the eye.
