OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand has been a target for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have not managed to build on their Europa League success and bolster their squad since the summer transfer window commenced on June 1.

Indeed, after a poor Premier League campaign last time out that cost Ange Postecoglou his job, Spurs just cannot sit back and see our rivals making changes to their squad. Daniel Levy has not been proactive when it comes to bringing in reinforcements, leaving fans worried that the club might miss out on intended targets if they do not act fast.

With pre-season looming, the North Londoners must accelerate their transfer business. Signing new attackers should be the priority for Spurs as many key players clearly underperformed for most parts of last season. It was reported earlier this year that Tottenham were interested in signing OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand. The Ligue 1 outfit have set a £20-25million asking price for him.

Evann Guessand enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season in OGC Nice colours, netting 13 goals and registering 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. The Ivory Coast international was the club’s top scorer, and after three seasons with Nice, he is open for a fresh challenge. Spurs, meanwhile, have not been the only Premier League side interested in his signature. The likes of West Ham, Wolves and Brighton also remain keen.

Now, Spurs have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Guessand. Football Insider senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke has revealed there is a growing feeling that he will move to England before the transfer window slams shut.

“A lot of Premier League clubs are looking at Guessand,” Pete O’Rourke exclusively told Football Insider.

“He had a very good season for Nice last season, he got 12 goals and seven assists in 33 Ligue 1 games, so he has a good record. He’s got the physical profile that you think would be a success in English football, and can play anywhere across the front line as well.

“There’s been interest from Brighton, West Ham, Wolves and now Tottenham also have an active interest in Guessand. Nice are bracing themselves for interest in this upcoming transfer window.

“For Tottenham, he would be a good signing, he would fit into how Thomas Frank plays. The way Guessand can play anywhere across the front line would make him a valuable addition. Nice will be hoping they can keep hold of him after qualifying for the Champions League themselves.

“They’re looking for a big fee, around £20-25million for a player who still has three years left on his contract. It’s not an easy deal to do, but it’s no surprise that a lot of Premier League clubs are looking at him.”

It remains to be seen what Levy decides to do now that other English clubs are also in the mix for Guessand’s signature. The 24-year-old will slot in perfectly at N17 under Frank, and his flexibility to play in attacking positions should be a boost.

With his pace, direct running, pressing and dynamism, the Nice star can also be a handy option off the bench. So, it is vital for the Lilywhites to act quick if they want to add the Ivorian to their attacking ranks for next season.
