Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are one of the clubs keeping tabs on the 20-year-old central defender, and they could look to make a move for him in the summer. However, they will face competition from rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to Mick Brown, Tottenham will have to convince the player to join them. It remains to be seen whether they can succeed. Brown has added that the 20-year-old would be an exceptional acquisition for Tottenham, and he could be the ideal partner for Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham could move for Dean Huijsen

“Dean Huijsen is a top player and he’s got a lot more to come,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s got all the ingredients to become a world-class player and he’s had a terrific season.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid looking at him – they want to sign a new centre-back and he certainly fits that bill.

“But then you’ve got Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea all having a look at him.

“So as far as Tottenham’s interest goes, they might have to do some convincing.

“He would be perfect alongside Van de Ven in their defence.

“There’s no reason he wouldn’t join them if they can get into the Champions League, but you have to feel there are other clubs ahead of them.“

Cristian Romero has been linked with the move away from the club, and he will need to be replaced. The Spanish defender could be the ideal long-term investment. He has had a terrific season in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he is good enough to play the biggest clubs in the world.

Can Spurs convince the player?

He might prefer to join a club capable of winning major trophies, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince him. They have had a disappointing season this year, and they might need to secure Champions League qualification to attract a player of his potential.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are keen on the player as well, and they need defensive reinforcements. They have been fighting for the league title and the Champions League. They could be a more attractive destination for the player compared to Tottenham. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
