Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison not averse to returning to Everton

Richarlison’s never managed to replicate the same form for Tottenham that he once showed at Everton. The Brazil international carried the Toffees on his back during his time in Merseyside. He quickly became a fan-favourite at Goodison Park, achieving the ‘cult hero’ status for giving his all for the club. He was immense for the blue side of Liverpool, and came to N17 with high expectations.

However, since his arrival at N17, Richarlison has looked a shadow of the player who once terrorised Premier League defences in blue. In his debut season with the Lilywhites, the 28-year-old largely played second fiddle to Harry Kane, struggling to find his rhythm or make a consistent impact. Even after Kane’s departure, the Brazilian has failed to establish himself as a regular starter under successive managers.

Over the summer, Richarlison was once again linked with a move away from Tottenham, with reports suggesting that the club had grown frustrated with his inconsistency in front of goal. Yet, Thomas Frank decided to hand him a fresh start, and to his credit, the Brazilian initially grabbed the opportunity with both hands. His performances in the early stages of the campaign hinted at a resurgence. But now, midway through the season, the prolific striker seems to have lost momentum once again, finding himself back to square one at N17.

Tottenham star Richarlison keeping doors open for Everton return in the coming months

Earlier in the summer, Richarlison was heavily linked with a sensational return to Everton. The Toffees identified him as a potential long-term replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who departed the club to join Leeds United on a free transfer. However, for one reason or another, the deal never materialised, with Everton eventually turning their attention to alternative targets, leaving the Brazilian to remain in North London.

Now, however, Everton are back again in the mix for the 28-year-old’s signature as Spurs aim to revamp their attacking line for the second half of the campaign. Richarlison has not done enough to prove his worth under Frank, and the Lilywhites are open to see him leave considering that they get a fair price for his services.

Adding fuel to the fire, Graeme Bailey has revealed the Brazilian’s stance over a potential return to Merseyside. Speaking to Everton News, Bailey said,

“Richarlison plain and simple is not off the agenda at Everton. He is a top-class centre forward who loves the club – so why would they not be interested. That said it still remains to be seen if he has a long-term future at Tottenham under Thomas Frank as Spurs are in the market for a new striker in 2026.”

The journalist added,

“That is the bit Everton are looking at, long-term. Come next summer – he is going to be on the agenda again, for sure. Whilst not a January deal, Richarlison back to Everton remains in the thinking of the club and player. Am told he would love the chance to play at the new stadium for The Toffees.”

Bailey admits that Richarlison would be keen to join Everton in the coming months, only if Thomas Frank decides he has no future at Tottenham. A January move to Merseyside will only be a possibility if the Lilywhites sign a new striker in the winter as his replacement. Bailey also suggests that the 28-year-old wants to play at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and would ‘love’ to revive his career under David Moyes.

Ideally, at 28, Richarlison should be entering his prime and scoring crucial goals for Tottenham week after week. But it has just not worked out for the Brazilian, and it makes sense to cash-in on him before it gets too late. That said, Spurs must first make sure that they have a replacement lined up and bring in a player that is a clear upgrade in every aspect of the game.
