Henrik’s Lubo acknowledgement last week was yet another embarrassment for Auld Shug…

Henrik Larsson was last week back into the spotlight due to his appearance on Gary Neville’s football podcast The Overlap. I wrote about how he shut down the arrogant Jamie Carragher who tried to cast doubt on Henrik’s achievements at Celtic.  One other talking point was dominating the online chatter and it was regarding one of his old Celtic teammates.

The man in question was the one and only Lubo Moravcik, the little Slovakian genius who Henrik declared as one of the best players he had the honour to share a pitch with.

The King of Kings was asked if the legend and one of football’s all time greats Ronaldhino was the most naturally gifted and talented player he’d played alongside, and much to the surprise of the other pundits, he said that Lubo was the most talented player that he had the privilege to share a dressing room with.

Lubo who? was the cry from most of the pundits, minus Roy Keane and Ian Wright who knew all about the Slovakian for obvious reasons. That’s quite an accolade from a man who’s played alongside the likes of Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and of course Ronaldinho himself.

It also once again makes a certain Scottish hack look like an even bigger fool due to the disrespect he aimed at the Slovakian after he signed for the club in the latter part of 1998.

Hugh Keevins is of course the hack in question. Auld Shug famously wrote off Lubo before the ink had even dried on his contract. The bitter old hack labelled the deal ‘laughable’ describing Lubo as an ‘unknown’ 33 year old, who was only worthy of move because he was an old pal of manager Dr Jo.

It was an even more bizarre statement as Lubo’s CV included experience of playing at the latter stages of the World Cup, as well as boasting top flight experience in France and Germany.

Henrik lauding Lubo, and placing him in the same bracket of some of the game’s greatest ever players is yet another source of embarrassment for the Celtic supporting hack who has made a career out of anti-Celtic remarks.. An no matter how much he professes his regret at writing Lubo off as a dud – obviously without knowing anything about his career before arriving at Celtic or his ability as a footballer.

These days Celtic fans can get their Celtic news from our own fan media, it’s not perfect – far from it – but it’s always Celtic minded, although it’s currently on the naughty list.  Henrik’s appearance on The Overlap has been hugely successful with over 1.1million views on YouTube so far. Quite incredible numbers for the King of Kings.
