One of Graham Potter’s big tasks as new Chelsea manager is getting the real superstars onside.

His CV is impressive to those who have watched his rise to the top of the game, but he’s hardly a big name internationally, and Chelsea are the first top side he’s managed.

One of those superstars is Kalidou Koulibaly, one of the top central defenders in the world.

It’s easy days yet, but KK seems impressed by what he’s seen from Potter so far.

“The new coach came with some good ideas. He’s a real coach. He did some good things with Brighton. Now he is a Chelsea manager,” Koulibaly said in quotes picked up by the Daily Mail.

“He has guidelines, expectations. It’s up to me to be patient, it’s up to me to show that I deserve to play, to show in training that the coach can trust me.”

Koulibaly wasn’t picked by Potter in his first and only game as coach so far, but we don’t expect that to last. His experience and quality makes it very likely he will be a key player this season.

Let’s hope that come May, he’s even more impressed by the rising star Potter. First impressions count, but results are what will really get players onside.
