Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager

Tottenham Hotspur are now focusing on kickstarting a new era at N17 following their Europa League success. The Lilywhites managed to exceed all expectations and win the competition against all odds, ensuring Champions League qualification along the way. However, the historic result was still not enough for Ange Postecoglou to save his job at Hotspur Way.

The Australian tactician was sacked by Daniel Levy just two weeks after the final due to the poor domestic campaign. It is true that Spurs endured a dismal Premier League campaign, as Ange’s men finished just a place above the relegation zone. But the injury crisis at the club and the lack of consistent performances from key players played a crucial part in ensuring that.

Now, the Lilywhites have the chance of starting from scratch again and write a new chapter in the history books of this club. Spurs have confirmed the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager, and it is fair to say that the Danish tactician has a big task on his hands following his switch from Brentford. Anything other than a good run in a cup competition and a strong finish in the Premier League will be considered a failure.

Thomas Frank has done an exceptional job at Brentford, making them a consistent mid-table team in the Premier League with linited resources.

Now, Spurs legend Jermain Defoe has also backed the Danish manager to work his magic at Hotspur Way following his switch. Speaking to Hayters TV, Defoe said,

“I spent a day with him [Frank] last season. I went to Brentford with Justin Cochrane, the coach, I spent the day just to watch training and see how they did things there and it was amazing, I was so impressed. It would be an amazing appointment. He’s unbelievable. An unbelievable man, an unbelievable coach. Hopefully it gets over the line in the next couple of days, for all the Tottenham fans listening, you’ve got a top manager there.”

Jermain Defoe suggested that Tottenham have a hired an ‘unbelievable’ manager as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement. The club legend added that he spent a day at Brentford’s training day, and was clearly impressed with Thomas Frank’s coaching. Defoe also urged the fans to back the Danish tactician following the confirmation of his appointment.

Will Thomas Frank steady the ship at Tottenham next season? Only time will tell. The first order of business for the 51-year-old is to get the players back on board before the start of next season. He will aim to build on the Europa League success next year, and the right way to do that is by forming a connection with the fans and play exciting football in the Premier League.
