How Ben Chilwell knew his new teammate would score
Jon Durr-USA TODAY Sports

Axel Disasi made his Chelsea debut yesterday and celebrated in the best possible way – with an equalising goal against a top 4 rival.

He already speaks great English, and after the game he was able to speak to TV reporters on the side lines, where he revealed something interesting.

Disasi claimed that Ben Chilwell – who assisted his goal – had predicted that the big Frenchman would score following a dominant showing in the set piece session the day before the game:

“Chilly told me yesterday that I would score today, so I think between us we manifested the goal!” The debutant grinned after the game in quotes feature on the Chelsea website.

“I’m very happy. It’s an amazing feeling to score on my debut and I’m really proud of the team because I think we played a very good game, especially in the second half.

“I thought we played some really good football after half-time and on another day, could have won the game. There are positives for us to take into the next game and it is a really good sign for the future.”

This sort of thing all points to a growing sense of harmony and happiness in the squad, with new faces like Disasi instantly mixing with the old heads like Chilwell. The two of them could link up for plenty more goals with season, with Chilwell’s delivery and the centre back’s aerial ability potentially creating major problems for other teams.

Here’s to many more.
