This will be Jordan’s first experience in the semifinals in their brief history of competing in the AFC Asian Cup. The Jordanians eliminated debutants Tajikistan in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory.
Jordan had experienced a movie-like series of events when playing against Iraq in the round of 16. The Jordanian team had turned the score around by scoring two goals in the last 3 minutes of the match and won 3-2.
