Inter Milan stand on the brink of surrendering their Serie A crown to bitter rivals Napoli heading into the season finale.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Inter’s ‘arrogance’ carries part of the blame for a potential title fiasco.

Head coach Simone Inzaghi made several mistakes at the start of the calendar year.

Despite being aware of the squad’s average age, the 49-year-old never stopped pushing his players to their limits.

Indeed, it’s fair to admit that Inter misjudged the situation.

Now, they could pay the price.

Inter Milan Let ‘Arrogance’ Derail Their Serie A Title Prospects

Back in February, Inter dropped eight crucial points.

In addition to drawing with AC Milan, the Nerazzurri lost to Fiorentina and Juventus.

Meanwhile, Napoli seized every opportunity to overtake the reigning champions at the top of the tree.

A lack of quality on the bench has significantly contributed to Inter’s stuttering title defense.

Mehdi Taremi, Kristjan Asllani, and Joaquin Correa have often flopped in the absence of first-team regulars.

Finally, recurring injuries to several key players have done their part.

However, Inzaghi could have avoided all that drama by choosing to sacrifice one competition.

Needless to say, Inter fans would’ve forgiven the team for throwing away their Coppa Italia ambitions.

Now, instead of the treble, Inzaghi must focus on avoiding a trophyless season.
