La Gazzetta dello Sport rated Guglielmo Vicario among Tottenham’s best performers in their Europa League final win over Manchester United, with Destiny Udogie also improving after a difficult start.
Both the goalkeeper and the former Udinese wing-back were in the starting XI for Ange Postecoglou’s side in a match that, as La Rosea put it, was dominated by ‘boredom’.
Spurs claimed victory thanks to a first-half goal from Brennan Johnson, but the former Empoli goalkeeper played an equally crucial role in helping the London club secure their third triumph in the competition’s history.
Gazzetta awarded Vicario a 7/10, noting that his occasional lapses were offset by ‘big saves’ that denied Alejandro Garnacho and Luke Shaw.
The goalkeeper was rated on par with Micky van de Ven, who was considered Tottenham’s best player on the night, largely due to a crucial goal-line clearance on former Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Udogie also received positive marks, earning a 6.5 for a solid performance that wasn’t derailed by his early struggles against Amad Diallo.
