We saw the Lilywhites faithful getting frustrated when the whole Harry Kane saga happened for a couple of summers while he was still at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. But it looks like that transfer saga is far from over. While he did end up departing the Lilywhites for winning trophies with Bayern Munich in 2023, it looks like Kane could again end up dominating headlines when the next summer window comes around.
There have been reports suggesting that his release clause with the German giants will come down to only £57m in 2026. And this has got a few European clubs already circling to attain his signature. And while he is thirty-two (32) and the English skipper is definitely not in his prime years, given how he has been playing of late, Harry does remain one of the most complete #9s in Europe.
We have seen a few links pop up with a possible move to Tottenham in the past weeks. But the North Londoners are apparently not alone in the pursuit of his signature, with Premier League rivals Manchester United also named as a possible destination for Kane. And now, according to senior transfer correspondent at TBR Football Graeme Bailey, Real Madrid are also keen on Kane. He insists that Florentino Perez is a long-time admirer of what he brings to the table.
He said (via. TBR Football):
“Both Real and Barca have huge respect for Harry Kane. They love the way he holds himself, the way he comes across; he is the consummate professional.
“Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta would both love to land him, and at 32, he still has a few very good years left in him.
“Clearly, should Kane move, a return to England would be appealing given the all-time Premier League goalscorer record is within his sights, which could be a huge lure for him.”
One of the things that can lead Kane to move to Tottenham (or the Premier League) is given how, he can still come in and have a reasonable attempt at breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record. Despite him having those couple of years or so at Bayern, he still is within reach of that record if he were to return to England.
While for Tottenham, the North Londoners are still trying to fill Kane’s void in that #9 role. We have seen Dominic Solanke trying and never reaching close. Richarlison has finally been showing his abilities in the past weeks. And a Kolo Muani who barely gets minutes. And the reality is simple: Kane remains the record goalscorer at N17 and possibly the greatest player to don the Lilywhites badge.
So if the chance comes through, Tottenham should be all in for him. Then, be it Madrid or Barcelona who are pushing for his signatures, Tottenham have to be on the table and within reach.
