‘I have changed my mind’: Tottenham handed blow in their pursuit of 16-goal star

Albert Gudmundsson seems all set to continue at Genoa amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The North London club are looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and they have been linked with some exciting talents from across Europe. Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson is one of the names on their wishlist but he seems determined to continue at the Italian club.

While speaking about his future amidst interest from some of the biggest clubs, the former AZ Alkmaar forward acknowledged the fact that he had a dream of playing in the Premier League but he has now changed his mind and wants to continue at Genoa.

Gudmundsson said to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews: “If as a child I dreamed of the Premier League, now I have changed my mind: here is life. So soon Genoa and I will sit at the table and find the best solution for me and for them.”

Tottenham are looking to add more firepower to their squad. They want to sign someone who can lead the line for them and score goals consistently. The 26-year-old could have been a great fit for them.

He has 16 goals and five assists in his 37 outings during the 2023/24 season. More importantly, he can feature in multiple roles in attack which could have been a great boost for Ange Postecoglou.

But, Spurs have been dealt a blow in their pursuit as the player seems to have made a decision regarding his future.

Gudmundsson wants to continue at the Italian club and he will hold talks with the club hierarchy soon regarding a contract extension. He is expected to commit to a new deal soon.

The striker would only leave the Italian club for a crazy opportunity and that might not happen this summer.
