'I think he will win Roland-Garros at least once,' Juan Carlos Ferrero has full faith in Carlos Alcaraz’s abilities as he backs him to win the coveted French Open title

Carlos Alcaraz ‘s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero says he has full faith in the Spaniard’s ability and backs him to win the coveted French Open title at least once in his career. Although Ferrero admits that Alcaraz’s best surface at the moment is hard courts, he is confident about the Spaniard winning the biggest title on clay courts because that is “where he was born”.

As Alcaraz aims to make a comeback at the 2024 Roland Garros, he will be among the favorites but whether he will be able to win a title this year is uncertain. Alcaraz has not been at his best in terms of fitness as he recently missed the Rome Masters with a forearm injury. He is working hard to be fit for the ultimate challenge of the clay season.

Meanwhile, his coach has talked about the prospects of the 22-year-old winning his maiden Grand Slam title on clay. Juan Carlos believes that Alcaraz has got the game to win the coveted title in Paris.

I think his best surface right now is a hard court. He’s developed on these courts but we cannot avoid [that] the clay court is where he was born. I think he will win Roland Garros at least once - he has the game to do it. Juan Carlos Ferrero said about Carlos Alcaraz. (H/T: BBC)

Carlos Alcaraz still aims to create history in tennis

Despite all the injuries and a few setbacks, Carlos Alcaraz still aims to become the greatest player in tennis history. The Spaniard said that he is an ambitious guy and is still chasing Novak Djokovic‘s record tally of 24 Grand Slam titles.

While talking to BBC, Alcaraz admitted that it is impossible for him to break Djokovic’s record but that does not stop him from aiming for that. The 22-year-old who has won just two Grand Slam titles so far says that he wants to be a part of tennis history.

Yes, of course. I am an ambitious guy. I know it is almost impossible to break Novak's records but I’m playing tennis for myself, for joy and I want to do great things. I want to be part of tennis history. Carlos Alcaraz said.

It is worth mentioning that Alcaraz is touted as the next big thing in tennis. The Spaniard often gets praise for his mentality and his winning the title at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships after beating Djokovic pushed his case for being the next tennis great. However, Alcaraz is going through an aberration phase and will be eager to bounce back strong.
