Liam Rosenior believes Joao Pedro could become one of the “best strikers in world football” if he continues his current trajectory.

Pedro arrived at Chelsea last summer from Brighton in a deal worth up to £60m, and hit the ground running at the Club World Cup.

The Brazilian scored in both the semi final and final, and he carried that form into the start of the Premier League season.

Liam Rosenior makes Joao Pedro claim

Pedro went through a difficult spell towards the end of the year, but since Rosenior arrived in January he’s looked like a man possessed.

The 24-year-old has scored six goals and provided one assist, whilst he’s also won three penalties, and no Chelsea player has found the back of the net more since the Englishman took over.

Pedro has already matched his tally of ten league goals from last season at Brighton, and Rosenior believes he could become one of the best in the world if he continues progressing how he is.

“For Joao, he’s had real rhythm. I’ve asked him to do different things and he’s taken it on board and he’s put it into practice,” he said as quoted by Football London.

“He’s been outstanding. The true test for Joao now is that the exciting thing for him is if he can maintain this level of intensity, if he can maintain this level of quality, and the quality’s never been in doubt, he could be one of the best strikers in world football.

“I truly believe that, but it’s a possibility at the moment, if he maintains that level.”

Partnership forming with Cole Palmer

We saw glimpses of it at the Club World Cup, but now Cole Palmer is fit again there are signs of an exciting partnership forming with Pedro.

Palmer has spoken about how much he enjoys playing with Pedro, and you can see there’s an on pitch chemistry.

Chelsea will be hoping to see more of the pair combining as they host Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
