Tottenham Hotspur signed the talented Spanish winger Bryan Gil from Sevilla back in 2021. The 21-year-old arrived in a part exchange deal involving Erik Lamela and a fee of around £21.6 million.

Despite his prodigious talent, the youngster never really managed to cement his place in the starting lineup at his new club and he was loaned out to Valencia during the second half of last season.

They were rumours that the player would head out on loan once again this season but he ended up staying beyond the summer transfer window.

Previously Antonio Conte had admitted publicly that the player needs to improve in order to feature more often. It seems that Gil has now managed to impress Conte with his quality and dedication during the training sessions.

The Italian manager has now claimed that his perception of the player has changed and Gil is likely to get an opportunity during the midweek Champions League game.

Spurs take on Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night.

Conte said to Football London: “Still in the squad, Bryan Gil. Tomorrow he is the first option for our attack. We are talking about a young player a good prospect. We wanted to send him on loan to Valencia but the situation has changed.

“I trust in him, he is working very well. If we need the possibility to give him time, I trust him. He could play.”

He was rated as one of the best young talents in Spain before his move to Tottenham. If Gil manages to fulfil his potential under Antonio Conte, he could prove to be an exceptional asset for Spurs in the long run.

It remains to be seen whether the youngster can justify Conte’s faith in him and produce a big performance for Spurs in the Champions League this week.
