“I want to say thanks” – Antonio Conte shows gratitude after supporters sing his name

It was a good week for Tottenham Hotspur and manager Antonio Conte, picking up two wins against Brentford and Norwich City. During Sunday’s 3-0 win against The Canaries, the home crowd began singing the Italian tactician’s name. 

With goals from Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, and Son Heung-min, the convincing performance put Tottenham supporters in a good mood as they sang “Antonio, Antonio, Antonio” at the stadium. 

Following the win, Conte shared his gratitude to the supporters during his press conference with the media. 

“Honestly, first of all, I want to say thanks to all the fans that sung my name,” Conte said, with the Daily Mail relaying his remarks. “In one hand, I’m very happy, very enthusiastic for this. On the other hand, I feel a lot of responsibility towards our fans. 

“I think they trust a lot in my work and to listen to my name it was good, also because I have just arrived: only one month I’ve been here, and for sure I have this responsibility to deserve this and maybe it is too early. I want to show in the future I deserve this. I think the good result helps you, but I want to deserve if the fans decide to sing my name for my work, for my involvement in this club, in this situation.”

Conte can further begin to put his imprint on the squad as the January window opens in a couple of weeks and reshape the team that fits his vision. 

Turning Tottenham into a squad that can win trophies consistently is how Conte wants to repay the supporters for the gratitude they showed towards him. 

Spurs will have another opportunity to make it two wins in one week when they face Stade Rennais in the UEFA Conference League and Brighton & Hove Albion FC.
