After initial optimism, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now reportedly unlikely to be available to AC Milan immediately after the international break.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes how head coach Stefano Pioli wanted the Swede to be ready for the game against Hellas Verona at San Siro on Saturday night, but it is now unlikely that the 40-year-old will be back as he continues to battle Achilles inflammation.

Pioli has at least got Oliver Giroud back, while for Ibrahimovic the target now becomes the match against Porto in the Champions League during the next midweek. The former PSG and Manchester United striker does not seem to have completely eliminated the problem that has afflicted him for several weeks now as he continues to train separately.

Ibra will not return to running on the field before Thursday and this is why his call-up for Saturday has become rather unlikely, but next Tuesday against Porto seems an achievable target.
