La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have a key role in Milan‘s summer transfers and Stefano Pioli’s future, while CEO Giorgio Furlani will hold ‘financial powers.’

Former Milan striker Ibrahimovic will have a crucial role in building the Rossoneri squad next season and determining the future of head coach Pioli, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ibrahimovic was hired by RedBird Capital Partners as an ‘Operating Partner’ in December 2023, and his duties included the development of the team on and off the pitch.

Even if the ex-striker doesn’t have an official role at Milan, club owner Gerry Cardinale sees him as a technical reference point so Ibrahimovic will make transfer decisions and identify potential targets with technical director Geoffrey Moncada, while Furlani will oversee the financial aspects of negotiations.

According to Gazzetta, Ibrahimovic will also participate in the launch of Milan’s U23 squad, involving his friend and ex-LAFC director Jovan Kirovski.

Last but not least, Ibra will have his say on Pioli’s future. The Italian tactician’s contract expires in June 2025, but according to the pink paper, games against Roma in the Europa League and Inter in Serie A will be decisive for his future at San Siro.
