Iliman Ndiaye spent four years at Sheffield United before making a permanent move to Marseille last summer.

Having made only one appearance in the Premier League, the forward had a notable impact in the Championship, contributing with 22 goals and 14 assists across 88 games for the Blades. Particularly noteworthy were his performances in the previous season, where he played a crucial role in Sheffield United’s promotion to the Premier League, recording 15 goals and 12 assists.

Ndiaye has encountered difficulties in making an impression for Marseille, managing just one goal in 23 appearances this season in Ligue 1. Reports from Le10 Sport emphasise that the 23-year-old has been unable to replicate the form he exhibited during his time at Sheffield United since joining the French club.

Despite a dip in form at Marseille, Iliman Ndiaye’s performance has not affected his standing with the Senegal national team. Manager Aliou Cissé has included him in the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In an interview with RMC Sport, the Senegal international expressed optimism that participating in the tournament could serve as a confidence boost. He believes that a positive showing with the national team may contribute to his resurgence, ultimately benefiting his performances when he returns to Marseille.

“Can AFCON do me good? I really think it can do some good. Every time I come back from selection, I feel a little more comfortable when I play. So yes, I think it will do me good.”

Ndiaye’s decision to leave Sheffield United for Marseille has not yielded the desired results, and there has been speculation about a potential return to his former club. The move to Marseille has not gone as expected, prompting discussions or rumours about the possibility of Ndiaye returning to Sheffield United.

In other news, the Blades are trying to avoid a repeat of the Ndiaye situation with another one of their prospects Daniel Jebbison. Sheffield United have been in ongoing discussions with striker Daniel Jebbison regarding a new contract. The England U20 international has been sidelined since last May due to a combination of injury and a health-related issue. As it stands, Jebbison is on track to leave the club in the upcoming summer.
