Inter Miami now knows that Jordi Alba will not be part of the team next year after the Spanish left-back announced that he will retire from football at the end of the 2025 MLS Season.

Alba signed a contract extension with Inter Miami five months ago and was expected to stay at the club for another two years. Alba's decision to retire from football is due to personal reasons, and now the club is looking for replacements.

By losing Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets next year, Inter Miami will have two designated player spots open to fill. One of the spots will be given for Rodrigo De Paul, who is currently at Inter Miami on a loan from Atletico Madrid.

For the other spot, Inter Miami may plan to use that spot for Jordi Alba's replacement. Inter Miami are linked with free agent Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Inter Miami in Advanced Talks with Sergio Reguilon

A couple of days ago, Fabrizio Romano reported that Inter Miami is in talks for a move to sign Sergio Reguilon. The Spanish left-back is a free agent after leaving Tottenham Hotspur in July.

Ramon reported that Reguilon is expected to accept the offer, and now, with the news of Jordi Alba retiring, a decision is soon to be made.

Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald reports that Inter Miami is in advanced talks to sign Sergio Reguilon. Reguilon is 28 years old and has played for a couple of teams in Europe, like Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford.

His last match was on May 16, 2025, when he played for Spurs in the Premier League against Aston Villa.
