Inter Miami hosts in-state rivals Orlando City in the Leagues Cup semifinal at Chase Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 27 (8:30 p.m. ET, 5:30 p.m PT).
Inter Miami made it to the semis after a wild quarter-final win over Tigres UANL (2–1), while Orlando City beat Toluca on penalties. Both teams want to go to the Leagues Cup final and get a 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup qualification.
Inter Miami club confirmed matchday planning while keeping Lionel Messi’s availability a late decision after he returned to team training this week.
Inter Miami will likely go 4–2–3–1: Ustari; Weigandt, Avilés, Falcón, Alba; Busquets, Bright (or Lionel Messi); Allende, De Paul, Segovia; Suárez.
Orlando City’s 4–4–2: Gallese; Brekalo, Jansson, Schlegel, Freeman; Angulo, Araujo, Atuesta, Pašalić; Muriel, Ojeda.

Messi and Alba are fit and back in full training after their recent absences, but neither is guaranteed to start.
Obando is out for Miami, while Orlando City are without McGuire, Cartagena, and Tsukada.
Orlando City leads the series 7–5–6. They’ve beaten Miami twice this season (3–0 and 4–1).
It’s going to be a close, hard-fought semifinal. Orlando City comes into this match with tons of confidence led by Luis Muriel who is in fantastic form and has beaten Miami twice earlier this season. They will have the advantage if Messi doesn’t play.

But if Messi is healthy and on the pitch, the situation could change. Miami has not lost in this year’s tournament, they have been solid at Chase Stadium this season, so this gives them ample momentum.
Experts are split. Some pick Inter Miami because of the home-field advantage, the momentum they have at home, and their lineup. Others point to Orlando and the momentum and confidence type of victories they have had against Miami before.
Regardless, we should see an exciting match either way with both teams just as capable of coming out on top.
Prediction: Miami3–2Orlando.
