Hakan Calhanoglu returned to be a protagonist for Inter Milan in last night’s convincing 3-0 home win over a downtrodden Fiorentina.
According to the Italian media via L’Interista, the Turkish star reached into his magician’s toolbox to produce moments of pure brilliance.
Inter Milan had Fiorentina on the back foot from the get-go, but David de Gea threw a spanner in the works.
Indeed, the experienced goalkeeper showed flashes of his prime, preventing the Nerazzurri from scoring in the first half.
With De Gea pulling off superb saves one after another, Inter needed a hero to find a way past the Spaniard.
And Hakan Calhanoglu answered the call, slotting home a stunning long-range screamer in the 66th minute to break the deadlock.
Furthermore, the 31-year-old once again proved that he is the ultimate penalty specialist, putting away another spot-kick to make it 3-0.
Meanwhile, Petar Sucic doubled Inter’s lead with a majestic solo goal.
However, Calhanoglu’s heroics still overshadowed everyone else, including referee Simone Sozza, who made the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
