Inter Milan star Carlos Augusto set his sights on conquering the Champions League after last night’s win against Barcelona.

Speaking to FCInterNews, the Brazilian star assessed Inter’s impressive triumph and revealed their lofty ambitions.

A game for the history books offered everything one football match could – drama, tensions, comebacks, and raw emotion.

Like in the first leg, Inter went 2-0 up before halftime as Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu found the net.

However, Barcelona fought back to make it 3-2 right before second-half stoppages.

When it looked like Inter would bow out, Francesco Acerbi netted an equalizer to send San Siro into raptures.

Then, Davide Frattesi struck a final blow in extra time to propel Inter to their second final under Simone Inzaghi.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain will lock horns in the other semi-final tonight.

The winner will fight the Nerazzurri for continental glory in Munich later this month.

Inter Milan Ace Carlos Augusto Hellbent on Lifting Champions League Title

“The team, the group – that’s what makes the difference,” Carlos Augusto said. “To beat Barcelona, you have to play together as one.

“They’re really strong, phenomenal players.

“It was a great semi-final, I’m happy for myself and the team.

“Everyone wants to play in matches like this, just look at Acerbi, the desire he showed at his age to score that 3-3 goal.

“He deserves it, and so does everyone else. We believe in ourselves and in our teammates. We deserve the final.

“We never thought we couldn’t make it. Indeed, we knew Barcelona are a tough opponent, I suffered too.

“But that’s the only way to beat a team like them. Thanks to the fans, it was a spectacle. Now we’re going to Munich to win.

“It was a match of heart, just like in the first leg. Thanks to the staff and the group, it was a great victory.

“For me, 7-6 over the two legs makes this the greatest semi-final ever.

“Now we have the league and anything can happen. We already have another match on Saturday.

“It’s something indescribable.

“For me, it will be my first Champions League final. For now, we’ll focus on ourselves and see what happens.”
