Inter Milan are in the driver’s seat of the Serie A title race again, but after how they collapsed last year and watch Napoli win at the death, they know not to take anything for granted against either the Partenopei or eternal rivals AC Milan.
Both of those Italian powerhouse clubs are hot on their heels, and Inter know they need to make a big move in the January transfer window just to keep up being first place.
That is because superstar right wing back Denzel Dumfries is now out with an injury, and CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that the Dutch defender will have to miss two months.
Another class right back is available for transfer, as Al Hilal star Joao Cancelo wants to come back to the top level of European football, and a reunion with Barcelona is on the table.
Inter are interested. Marotta has confirmed that Dumfries is out for two months, via Fabrizio Romano, and he also states that Inter Milan are going to try to swing a transfer deal for his replacement this season:
“Dumfries will be out for two more months and we are discussing a deal for João Cancelo. We need to find a solution at RB with Dumfries out”. And look at that: Marotta even confirmed that they are trying to swing a deal for Joao Cancelo, who did spend a brief amount of time in Serie A as a standout crosser for another hated rival in Juventus FC.More must-reads:
