Giovanni Fabbian will stay at Bologna after Inter Milan refused to activate a buy-back clause in their agreement with the Rossoblu.
Per Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the deadline for the Nerazzurri to exercise their buy-back option expired last night.
Inter had until midnight to trigger an affordable €12 million clause to re-purchase Giovanni Fabbian.
However, the Serie A runners-up will not bring the 22-year-old back to San Siro.
Instead, he’ll stay and fight for his place at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Inter sold Fabbian to the Rossoblu in the summer of 2023.
Yet, aware of his potential, they installed a back door, allowing themselves to re-sign him this summer.
However, after careful examination, Cristian Chivu’s men have opted not to activate the clause.
As a result, Fabbian will remain at Bologna.
Inter’s decision sounds a bit surprising, given the circumstances.
Indeed, the club is at risk of losing Hakan Calhanoglu to Galatasaray. Furthermore, Kristjan Asllani has never convinced the upper management.
Then, there’s the uncertainty surrounding Davide Frattesi’s future.
Therefore, Inter’s choice makes little sense.
