Lega Serie A has decided to strip Inter Milan of the hostage rights for a potential Scudetto playoff tie against Napoli.

Per La Stampa via FCInter1908, the first title-deciding showdown since 1964 would likely take place at the famous Stadio Olimpico.

The Nerazzurri must still make up ground on Antonio Conte’s pacesetters to make that possible.

Indeed, they trail Napoli by a single point heading into the last two Serie A rounds.

As such, a potential one-off game to determine the Scudetto fate could be in store.

Serie A Strip Inter Milan Of Hostage Rights for Possible Scudetto Playoffs vs Napoli

Though it’s a long shot, Inter and Napoli could face off in the first playoff match in over half a century.

While Inter had hoped they could host the game at their San Siro Stadium, Serie A has other plans.

Instead of handing the hostage rights to the team with a superior goal difference, league officials prefer neutral ground.

Therefore, the Scudetto hopefuls will meet at the Olimpico if it comes to that.
