Sporting Lisbon has reportedly emerged as a competitor for Inter Milan in their quest to sign Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento.

The Nerazzurri have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old since last summer.

But while a deal never materialized in 2023, the Italian champions believe they stand a bigger change this summer.

In fact, some accounts claim that Paranaense had already promised the custodian he could leave this time.

Inter are reportedly planning to bring Bento to the club initially as a backup for their current Number One Yann Sommer, before eventually taking the torch from the Swiss veteran.

He would thus replace Emil Audero who is spending this campaign at Appiano Gentile on loan from Sampdoria with an option to buy.

Nevertheless, signing the Brazilian could prove to be a challenging task for the club amidst the growing competition for his services.

According to Apitofinal via FcInterNews, Sporting have entered the fray for Bento.

The Lisbon-based giants are searching the market for a new goalkeeper. They will have to replace Antonio Adan who is leaving the club at the end of the season.

Therefore, the Portuguese side has set its sights on the Brazil international.

Sporting Lisbon Posing Competition For Inter Milan In The Race For Bento

The source talks about a strong interest from Sporting, albeit they’re yet to make a concrete bid.

Bento gained further prominence this year, especially after making his Brazil senior debut in March. He managed to earn a clean sheet against England in a friendly match at Wembley in his first cap.

The 24-year-old has also earned a call-up for the Copa America.

This season, Bento has made 26 appearances for Paranaense. He managed to register 13 clean sheets in the process, while only conceding 14 goals.
