Inter Milan still have not given up hope on signing Nico Paz this summer despite strong links to Real Madrid.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan’s interest in Como midfielder Nico Paz is hardly a secret.
The Argentine has been one of the outstanding players in Serie A this season. This despite having turned twenty during the campaign, and playing his first season in the division with a newly-promoted club.
That certainly hasn’t escaped the attention of the bigger clubs. Inter above all.
Reportedly, the Nerazzurri view Paz as the ideal player to be the future of their project under Simone Inzaghi.
Inter envision Paz eventually moving back further back on the pitch. They want Inzaghi to transform the Argentine into a central midfielder as he did with Luis Alberto at Lazio.
There is a major hitch in Inter’s plans to move for Nico Paz this summer, however.
Real Madrid still maintain control over the 20-year-old midfielder’s future.
Real sold Paz to Como last summer. However, they have a buyback option on the Argentine, which becomes active this summer.
And recent reports indicate that incoming Real coach Xabi Alonso fully intends to take advatnage of that option. He wants to make Paz a part of his first team plans.
Real’s buyback option on Paz becomes active on July 1st. However, Alonso wants the Argentine in the squad for the Club World Cup this summer.
Therefore, Los Blancos could agree an alternate deal with Como.
The Gazzetta report that the Spanish giants could bring Paz back for a fee of €11 million. This despite the fact that Como value the 20-year-old at €50 million.
Then, Alonso’s plan would be to evaluate Paz in the coming weeks. He will make a decision on whether Paz has a role at the club next season based on the Club World Cup.
Then, Inter are hoping that Real could decide to loan Paz out next season.
From there, the Nerazzurri are aiming to convince the Argentine on a personal level that they would be the right next step for him.
In that respect, the Gazzetta report, Inter are far from giving up hope of signing Paz.
