Inter Milan have lined up Max Allegri as a replacement in the event of a shock departure by coach Simone Inzaghi.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908.
There is hardly any doubt that Inter Milan want to keep Simone Inzaghi as coach.
The 49-year-old is leading Inter into their second Champions League final in three years. He is the coach they want to build around for the future.
However, there are never any guarantees in football.
Inter have yet to agree a new contract with Inzaghi. Meanwhile, Al-Hilal have reportedly set their sights on the former Lazio coach.
Reportedly, the Saudi club would be willing to offer Inzaghi a contract worth €20 million per season.
Therefore, the Corriere della Sera reports, there is a contingency plan in case Inzaghi heads for the exit door.
The newspaper reports that there is one name at the top of Inter President Beppe Marotta’s list.
That is former Juventus and AC Milan coach Max Allegri.
Allegri is a coach who Inter President Marotta has a good relationship with. The pair enjoyed great success together at Juventus.
Therefore, the 57-year-old would be the coach the Nerazzurri President would immediately turn to to steady the ship in the event that Inzaghi departs.
