Beppe Marotta and Simone Inzaghi have identified referees as the main culprits for ruining Inter Milan this season.

Per La Repubblica via FCInterNews, they hold match officials accountable for Nerazzurri’s faltering Serie A title defense.

To be honest, that’s not far from the truth.

You don’t need to look beyond Sunday’s game against Lazio to get a partial image of the injustice done to Inter this term.

Daniele Chiffi underperformed in the most crucial games of all.

Indeed, his controversial decisions, supported by VAR, landed a knockout punch on Inter’s Scudetto hopes.

However, there’s a much more ominous pattern.

Let’s not forget that Inter lost the Supercoppa Italiana final largely thanks to Simone Sozza’s mistakes.

Furthermore, referees have often ruled against Inter’s favor in Serie A.

Therefore, frustration is understandable.

Simone Inzaghi lost his nerve against Lazio and will, as a result, serve a touchline ban against Como.

Meanwhile, Marotta shares the same view as the Nerazzurri manager.

Indeed, he blames VAR for Inter’s rough patch in 2025, and no one could argue he’s not right.
