Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has been monitoring Como manager Cesc Fabregas for quite some time now.

Per La Repubblica via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri senior executive has been hot on the Spaniard’s heels for weeks.

Cesc Fabregas is the frontrunner to become the new Inter Milan manager.

Indeed, the 20-time Serie A champions have selected the 38-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi.

Meanwhile, the ex-Lazio coach is one step away from joining Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

While it’s a done deal, Fabregas’ arrival is not a foregone conclusion.

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta Keen on Cesc Fabregas for Weeks

It seems like Inter have been preparing for life after Inzaghi for quite a while.

Indeed, Marotta’s interest in Fabregas dates back to the tail-end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Furthermore, Fabregas’ appointment could result in Inter signing Como starlet Assane Diao.

Despite the club’s long-term pursuit of Nico Paz, the prodigious forward could move to San Siro instead.

On the other hand, Marotta has several alternatives in mind should Fabregas’ arrival go south.

It’s worth noting that Roberto De Zerbi is no longer a candidate.

However, Genoa’s Patrick Vieira and Parma’s Cristian Chivu are in the picture.

Meanwhile, Thiago Motta isn’t a viable solution.
