Inter Milan Treble Hero ‘Rooting’ for Chivu, Hails Jose Mourinho: 'Best Coach In History'

Legendary Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder backs his old friend Cristian Chivu to succeed in his mission to bring the club to the podium.

As for Sneijder, he admits that Simone Inzaghi’s departure to Al-Hilal will be felt at Inter. Nevertheless, he sees a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Dutchman believes his former teammate, Chivu, is the right man to revive the club.

“When a coach leaves, there’s always emotion, especially after a positive period,” said Sneijder in his interview with Win Win via FcInterNews.

“I understand the fans’ disappointment, but football is also a business. He saw a new challenge and deserves respect.

“However, I’m rooting for my friend Chivu at Inter.”

Sneijder Believes Jose Mourinho Is The Best Of All Time

The interviewer also asked the retired playmaker about his former Inter manager, Jose Mourinho.

Sneijder only had words of praise for the Special One, labelling him as the best of all time.

“Is Mourinho the best coach in history? For me, he is. What we achieved with Inter in 2010 was historic.

“Jose made us believe we could beat anyone. He’s more than a coach, he’s a leader. I will always respect him.”

Sneijder joined Inter in the summer of 2009 following his spell at Real Madrid. He won the famous treble in his first season at the club.

The Dutchman left Appiano Gentile in January 2013 when he signed for Galatasaray.
