Stevan Jovetic expects tonight’s Serie A heavyweight clash between Inter and AC Milan to produce plenty of fireworks.
Speaking to FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri striker delivered his verdict on the upcoming Milan derby.
More than just the city’s bragging rights will be at stake tonight.
Indeed, for Inter, this could be a chance to open up a five-point gap at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, for Milan, this is an opportunity to send a message to other Scudetto contenders.
However, the teams will take the field in contrasting spirits.
Cristian Chivu oversaw a three-game winning streak in the league before the international break paused proceedings in club football.
On the other hand, Milan have drawn three of their last four outings in Serie A, including a 2-2 stalemate at Parma last time out.
Despite Milan’s rough patch, they could still have a psychological advantage after avoiding defeat in their last five meetings with Inter.
“I always follow Serie A,” Jovetic said. “In my opinion, it will be a fantastic match.
“For the Scudetto, there are definitely two or three teams, maybe even more.
“However, I expect a great derby with lots of goals. I’m not making predictions, I just say the important thing is that there are many goals.”
Furthermore, the long-serving Montenegro international believes Inter’s frontline possesses more potency than Milan’s.
“Compared to Milan’s, I give the edge to Inter’s,” he added. “And between Thuram and Lautaro, I choose Thuram, even though the Argentine is also strong.
“My personal taste makes me lean toward the Frenchman.”
Asked about the in-form Francesco Pio Esposito, Jovetic replied: “Yes, yes, he’s good too, you can see it.
“And there’s also Bonny. The truth is, they are four top-class forwards.”
