Francesco Acerbi and Yann Sommer are reportedly in contention to start in Inter Milan’s home clash against Slavia Prague tomorrow.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, Cristian Chivu plans to overhaul his starting line-up on Tuesday.

Despite promoting Josep Martinez as his new No.1 in Serie A, Chivu could turn to Yann Sommer for Champions League duty.

Indeed, the 36-year-old has tumbled down the pecking order after an underwhelming start to the season.

Sommer’s disappointing performance against Juventus was particularly upsetting, prompting Chivu to hand Martinez a regular starting berth.

Though Sommer may be past his prime, his experience on the continental stage favors him over his Spanish counterpart.

As for Francesco Acerbi, he remains a vital part of the Nerazzurri defense despite his age.

Indeed, the veteran center-back will turn 38 in February. However, he has been a reliable option at the back over the past few years.

Therefore, Chivu will call upon the ex-Lazio star tomorrow, with Stefan de Vrij likely to make way.
