Inter want to move defender Milan Skriniar on to Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window as an interview with the player’s agent has marked the “point of no return” in the relationship between club and player.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are hoping to get a deal done with the Parisians for around €20 million.

After Skriniar’s agent Roberto Sistici gave an interview in which he made clear that Skriniar isn’t planning to extend his Inter contract and is in talks with PSG and other clubs, the atmosphere surrounding the player has become tense.

The club feel that the agent’s remarks couldn’t have been more ill-timed or inappropriate, coming during a Serie A match against Empoli which saw Skriniar sent off and the team slump to defeat.

Given that Sistici essentially aired the situation out in his interview, blaming the club for the situation and defending Skriniar’s professionalism and commitment with the most unfortunate of timing, the Nerazzurri are not keen to let the situation drag out further.

Rather, the club would prefer to rip the bandage off right now, to avoid adding the potentially toxic atmosphere of a player who everyone knows has one foot out the door to coach Simone Inzaghi’s already stressful mandate.

Moreover, a sale in the next week would represent the last chance that Inter have to cash in on Skriniar.

The asking price has dropped to €20 million, from an offer that had been on the table for the former Sampdoria defender during the summer of €50 million.

Still, this is better than nothing for Inter, who after Sistici’s interview feel that there is little left to repair between themselves and Skriniar and would rather cash in on the 27-year-old as soon as possible.
