Cristian Chivu is set to have two key players back at his disposal for Inter’s exciting game against River Plate in the final round of group stage fixtures at the FIFA Club World Cup, as wing-backs Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco should be available for selection again.

Inter team news for River Plate at Club World Cup

Dumfries has not yet featured at the Club World Cup while he continued his injury rehabilitation, but according to Monday’s reports from Sky Sport Italia, the Dutchman has been involved in training with the rest of the first-team group and is now in contention to feature against River Plate.

Matteo Darmian started the first game against CF Monterrey in Dumfries’s absence, while summer signing Luis Henrique was given his full Nerazzurri debut at right wing-back for the 2-1 win against Urawa Red Diamonds over the weekend.

Dimarco started on the other side of wing-back for the 2-1 win over Urawa Red Diamonds, but there had been concerns over his fitness and availability for the River Plate match.

According to Sky, those concerns are now over, and he is also in contention to start in his usual spot at left-wing back on Thursday.

Marcus Thuram and Davide Frattesi’s conditions are also improving according to Sky. Both are pushing to be involved against River Plate, but there are no guarantees either way as things stand.
