Frank Anguissa is enjoying another fine start to the season at Napoli, but his future in Campania isn’t so sure, and Fenerbahce and Galatasaray would be ready to target him if he were to become available next summer, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Azzurri tried but never got around to agreeing to a new contract with him. The prolonged it until 2027 by picking up a two-year option during the spring. They failed to concur on a longer duration and a pay rise afterward.
Fenerbahce and Galatasaray could exploit the impasse between Anguissa and Napoli, tempting the midfielder with a salary far higher than his current one. He wouldn’t be the first Serie A star to be lured by a Turkish club. They have an easier time handing out lofty wages thanks to the country’s favorable fiscal system.
The 29-year-old, who was reportedly talked into staying by Antonio Conte last summer, has already bagged four goals and provided two assists, deciding three matches. The Partenopei are bracing for the time he’ll miss during the winter due to AFCON. They are eyeing Kobbie Mainoo and Lorenzo Pellegrini to add depth to their midfield.
It looks like the talks aren’t going well if this kind of chatter has resurfaced. He’s certainly due for a pay bump, as he’s gone up a level in the past two campaigns despite not being a spring chicken. He appears to be tied at the hip to their boss. They could keep him content until the gaffer is in town, but the duo might not last long, since the coach is quite restless, too.
