Italian giants discuss January offer to sign Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa’s name seems to come up in transfer rumours every window.

With the January window not far off, clubs are already mapping out their targets, hoping to move early before the competition heats up.

Liverpool will likely be part of that activity, though they could also see some departures. Chiesa is one of the names being mentioned as a possible departure.

Even though he has made an impact off the bench and played through injuries, opportunities have been scarce, which is why a mid-season move would not be surprising.

The 28-year-old is not short on options either. One club has already made contact, giving him something to think about ahead of January.

Despite a summer where he was close to leaving due to limited playing time last season, Chiesa ultimately chose to remain and compete for his spot.

Even though he has performed well when called upon, he still has not won over Arne Slot, which may force a move if he wants regular football.

Emanuele Cammaroto of NapoliMagazine reports that “discussions are underway” at Napoli regarding a potential move for the Italian winger.

The Italian champions are reportedly interested in a loan deal in January, while Liverpool would only consider it if there was an obligation to buy included.

This could be a good move for Chiesa in terms of playing time, especially since he already knows the league. However, the Reds might regret letting him go, given their lack of options in this area.

Gennaro Gattuso wants Federico Chiesa to return to Italy

One thing that could push Chiesa towards a move is the World Cup year, with regular minutes key to improving his chances of making the squad.

While he would have been in line for a call-up during this international window, the 28-year-old reportedly declined an invite from Gennaro Gattuso.

The Italian manager reportedly wants the winger back in Serie A so he can be sharp and fully prepared for the tournament in June.

While nothing is set to happen immediately, it is clear that both Chiesa and Liverpool need to carefully consider their options before making any final calls.
