Italian Journalist Predicts Genoa & Ex RB Leipzig Star ‘Will Play For Inter Milan In The Next Couple Years’

Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani believes that Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez is good enough to play for Inter Milan.

The SportMediaset journalist spoke on Cronache di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews, about the 25-year-old former RB Leipzig keeper.

This season has been an impressive one for young goalkeeper Martinez.

The Spanish international, who came through the youth academy system of Las Palmas, is now in his second season at Genoa.

Martinez initially joined the Grifone on loan last season. The Ligurian side were in Serie B.

And Martinez helped Genoa to win promotion straight back to Serie A with his performances in the second division.

The 25-year-old then joined the Grifone on a permanent basis – they made his loan deal from German side RB Leipzig permanent.

And Martinez has kept the level from last season up in the top flight this time around. If anything, in fact, the young keeper has been even more impressive.

Naturally, like with a lot of important players in the Genoa squad, questions have emerged about how much longer Martinez will be staying at the Marassi.

There is already interest in the 25-year-old’s signature from some bigger clubs.

Reportedly, Inter have already met with Martinez’s agent, albeit only for exploratory talks.

But there is no doubt that Inter want a young keeper who can succeed Yann Sommer in the long term.

Athletico Paranaense’s Bento is reportedly the Nerazzurri’s top target. But should a move for the Brazilian not work out, they will certainly be on the lookout for other targets.

“The Genoa story continues to be a spectacular one,” said Italian journalist Trevisani.

“They offer great quality of play, and also some excellent new players.”

“Starting from their goalkeeper,” continued the Mediaset journalist. “Josef Martinez.”

“For me, he’ll end up at a top club,” Trevisani went on of the Genoa keeper.

“I’ll throw out a name,” the journalist predicted. “Inter.”
