Italy Star Cools Talk Of Inter Milan Being Among Best Teams In Europe: ‘Let The Pitch Speak’

Federico Dimarco has little interest in the “chatter” about Inter Milan being one of Europe’s best teams.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old stressed “letting the pitch speak: ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid.

Inter’s form this season has earned them attention from well beyond Serie A.

The Nerazzurri have been the outstanding team in the Italian top flight. That much has become impossible to deny given their sixteen-point advantage in the table.

But at the European level as well, Inter are starting to look like one of the form teams.

Inter are in the round of sixteen of the Champions League for the third season in a row.

Last time around, the Nerazzurri reached the final of the competition. There, they only lost by a narrow 1-0 scoreline after going toe-to-toe with Premier League juggernauts Manchester City.

And this campaign, Inter have every chance of booking their place in the quarterfinals.

The Nerazzurri will know, of course, that it will not be easy away to a formidable Atletico Madrid team in the second leg of their round of sixteen tie.

But Inter have an advantage from the first leg, albeit a slender 1-0 one.

Dimarco: No Use For “Chatter” About Inter Being One Of Europe’s Best, “Let The Pitch Speak”

The only way for Inter to really find their true level is in match’s like tomorrow’s.

The Nerazzurri will be up against one of the most experienced teams on the continent on stages like this.

And the match will be at the Metropolitano, where the Colchoneros will enjoy the passionate backing of their fans – something which they missed in the first leg.

“Tomorrow evening there will be a lot of potential dangers,” Dimarco said.

“The only mistake that we can make would be to go out onto the pitch with a different mentality than the one that we usually do,” the wingback went on.

“So we have to go out and play the way that we have in the last several matches.”

“We know the quality that Atletico have,” Dimarco said. “And the way that the crowd pushes them on at home.”

“We also know the European heritage that they have,” the Italian international added.

And as far as whether he thinks that Inter are now one of the strongest teams in Europe, Dimarco said “Let’s say that the the pitch speaks.”
