Tottenham’s home form is becoming a point of concern for Thomas Frank this season

Tottenham extended their unbeaten run in the Champions League with a dominant 4-0 victory over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night. The Lilywhites set the tone from the first whistle, playing aggressive, front-foot football throughout. Even after Brennan Johnson was sent off in the second half, Spurs remained in control and never looked threatened.

The challenge now is to carry that momentum into the Premier League. Tottenham have suffered back-to-back home defeats against Aston Villa and Chelsea, results that have stalled their progress under Thomas Frank. With Manchester United visiting N17 this weekend, Spurs must address those mistakes and respond with a strong performance.

United have started to build rhythm in recent weeks, going unbeaten in their last four league matches. Ruben Amorim’s side rescued a late point against Nottingham Forest last time out, thanks to a stunning volley from Amad Diallo. Spurs, meanwhile, struggled against Chelsea, ultimately falling to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home.

Tottenham need to step up against Manchester United in the PL

Tottenham’s home form has become a concern this season. The Lilywhites have already lost three league matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has significantly hindered their push to close the gap on the top sides. In contrast, their away record has been excellent, with four wins from their first five matches on the road.

That is exactly why the home game against Manchester United is a massive tie for Spurs as they look to turn their fortunes around at N17. Echoing the same views, Wayne Rooney said on BBC’s The Wayne Rooney Show,

“It’s a big game, I think, after United [have] obviously [had their] recent run. They look to be back in a decent place, anyway. And so, I think it’s a big game after Tottenham losing to Chelsea. Whoever wins that, [it] could really kick them on. Whoever loses it, [it] could be a tough one to take. So, I think it’s a massive game coming up then.”

Rooney’s assessment is clear: this is a crucial fixture for both sides, but especially for Tottenham. With Spurs and United currently level on points, the result could have a major impact on the top-four race. Frank’s players must deliver at home and re-establish the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a difficult place for opponents to visit.

There is reason for confidence. The Lilywhites have won their last four meetings against Manchester United in all competitions. Their most recent encounter came in the Europa League final, where the North Londoners lifted their first major trophy in 17 years. With that history fresh in memory and a top-four spot within reach, Thomas Frank’s side will be determined to produce another statement performance at N17 this weekend.
