FC Barcelona have all but sealed a move to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a loan deal with an option to buy for around €30m. The English international is expected to be the latest addition to the squad under Hansi Flick.
With Ansu Fati being loaned out to AS Monaco early on in the summer, signing a new left-winger was a priority for the German coach. Rashford comes to Barcelona at the perfect time in his career as he is in his prime years and has a point to prove.
Incidentally, one of Fati’s current teammates at his new club, Paul Pogba, has reacted to his ex-teammate’s move to Barcelona. As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, here is what he said:
“This is crazy. I’m happy for him because they took his shirt number away from him in Manchester. They’re losing a great player; it’s bad for them, but great for Barcelona. I’m not even talking about Manchester United.”
“They’ve signed some players, and the new coach (Amorim) wants to impose his style, I guess. It’s not his (the coach’s) fault, I suppose. If he doesn’t believe in a player… In the end, they need to win. If they don’t win and don’t play well, he’ll be sacked. I’m happy for Marcus.”

Pogba, of course, played with Marcus Rashford at Manchester United and knows all about how it feels to be cast aside by the English club. The Frenchman is returning to football after a long time this season and will be hoping to hit the ground running in Ligue 1.
Rashford, meanwhile, has to hit the straps running. It helps that he is coming to Barcelona in time for pre-season, as it gives Hansi Flick enough time to integrate him into the team and make sure he is ready for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 27-year-old will, of course, have at the back of his mind that there is a World Cup coming at the end of the season. He is currently not in the scheme of things for England under Thomas Tuchel and needs to fight his way back.
However, if there is a manager who is perfectly suited to reviving Rashford’s career, it has to be Hansi Flick. The Englishman’s pace and directness are a perfect marriage in the German coach’s system, and let’s wait and see if the Man Utd forward can take this chance and emerge as an integral part of Flick’s plans in the coming season.
