The Lewis family is aiming to compete hard for trophies at Tottenham following Daniel Levy’s departure

Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Daniel Levy sent shockwaves through the footballing world last week. The Englishman played a pivotal role in transforming the North London club into a regular Champions League contender during his 24-year stint at N17. And it is fair to say that the former executive chairman helped turn the Lilywhites into a financially stable outfit.

However, a lack of on-field success made it difficult for Spurs to compete with their rivals. While the club has grown into a commercial giant over the past two decades, tangible silverware has remained elusive. Many fans attribute this shortfall to Levy’s shortcomings in the footballing side of operations.

Now, the Lewis family are hoping to kickstart a new era at N17 following Levy’s departure. The North London club will solely focus on challenging for major trophies every season under the new hierarchy. These are exciting times for Tottenham fans, who may finally see their team prioritise what matters the most… winning trophies on a consistent basis.

Tottenham have a strong budget for January transfer window

It was reported earlier that the Lewis family plans to inject £100m into Tottenham following Daniel Levy’s departure last week. The majority stakeholders want the Lilywhites to become regular contenders for major trophies, and believe that this cash injection will be vital in the upcoming January transfer window. Spurs will be able to utilise the funds to strengthen the squad with new signings.

However, John Wenham has urged the North London club to utilise that money wisely. Speaking to Tottenham News, he said,

“In any world, having the same voice for 20-25 years, you need organisation, you need change, you need a new direction. And I’m hopeful that will now come.”

The Lilywhite Rose owner added,

“We’re being told that money has already been made available for the January transfer window to the tune of £100m. That doesn’t actually get you very much in this age. It’d have to be spent wisely, as always, but it’s promising nonetheless.”

John Wenham believes that Tottenham were in dire need of change after heading towards a dead-end under Daniel Levy. The Lilywhite Rose owner is now hopeful about the club’s future following the Lewis family’s £100m pledge for the January transfer window. However, Wenham wants to see Spurs spend that money wisely, given that it is not a large sum by modern football standards.

Fans will hope that Spurs make shrewd signings in the winter as they continue to compete hard on all four fronts this season. Thomas Frank still needs some backing in January as the club lacks firepower in the middle of the park. So, the North London club must prioritise bringing in a new midfielder, along with a few more players that could bolster the squad for the remainder of the season.
